Indians

It was Columbus Day in America yesterday. Columbus Day always reminds me of the scene in the Sopranos as they go down to crack some skulls of the protesters of a parade. The argument of the protesters being that Columbus represents genocide of the indigenous population and the introduction of slavery across Africa and the Americas. Although Syl took it as affront against Italian Americans and sends a crew down to stop the protest.

The whole celebration of Columbus is a little weird and I feel that a day dedicated to a historical person responsible for slavery and Genocide. But then again we have a day dedicated to a 17th century terrorist.

I read this articletoday on the myths of Columbus and how it affects the way America operates today by Dahr Jamail and Jason Coppola. Well worth a read
