Dear Mr Levitt
I have no doubt that by now you will have seen the video of the Police attack on Ian Tomlinson shortly before he died at the G20 protest last week. I feel that as a British citizen and taxpayer the actions by the police over the past few years with regard to peaceful protest are completely reprehensible and am writing to you to demand a parliamentary enquiry into police tactics at protests. It is every citizens right to peaceful protest for whatever is their grievance as it has been been for hundreds of years. There is clearly a police agenda to suppress any form of legitimate protest with extreme force at every available opportunity. This includes the use of riot police after dark last week to clear the makeshift climate camp and last year when a family festival picnic at the Kingsnorth Climate camp was threatened by helicopter and loudspeakers with riot police and dogs.
Any informed person can see that this does not hold true to the democratic nature of this country and I am asking as my MP for you to demand an independent enquiry into police tactics used against protestors and the abuse of anti terror legislation.
Regards
